Reviews To Battleon!
If you're a fan of old-school, turn-based RPG's, or a fresh-out-of-the-box, new-to-games gamer, then AdventureQuest is the game for you.
The artwork is clean and and well done, and reminiscent of some of the better anime out there right now. The interface is pretty simple to figure out, and there's more than a few little suprises hidden here and there.
There isn't a whole lot of deep storyline, as the game exists in a state of perpetual development. New things are constantly being added, including classes, quests, and all manner of inventory items.
Did I mention that AdventureQuest is highly addictive, low in saturated fats, and a good source of fiber? It is. Between the constantly evolving world, 300+ monsters, and real-time driven events (such as the Rare Item Hunter's Once-a-real-week visit to town), there is always something waiting to be discovered.
But there are some downsides too. While the game exists Free-to-Play, there is a limit to the number of free-play slots (currently 4000), and some times it takes a while for a free slot to open up. The one-time memebership fee of $14US will ensure the land of Lore is always available to be explored, and there are some nice memeber perks as well.
The current total number of actual plot device quests is pretty limited, and may still be a ways off, but the team has been faithful in getting new content added at fairly regular intervals. Seasoned RPG's will find themselves in a state of "wander around and kill stuff for money and experiance" fairly quickly, but this isn't as bad as it sounds either, as a majority of the highly-desireable items require both high experiance levels, and carry pretty hefty price tags.
Finally, being a Flash based game, the load on your system is fairly minimal, and has shown to be very stable.
All-in-all, I'd give AQ a 7+ out of 10.
