Guitar Hero 2 set for November release.
The second day of Edinburgh's Interactive Entertainment Festival is under way, with playable game demonstrations open to the public. Hosted at the Odeon Cinema on Lothian Road, the event kicked off with the first European showing of Guitar Hero II, at which an official European release date of November was confirmed.
The release is the same month as the US date, although representatives for Red Octane confirmed that the European release would come 'shortly after' the US. However, it's still good news for European gamers, who had to wait nearly six months after the US release of the first Guitar Hero for an April release--although this date does mean that Guitar Hero II will come out a mere seven months after the original in Europe.
At the demonstration, it was confirmed that the finished game will have 55 tracks that will again offer a mix of classic and contemporary music. The game will also up the ante in expert mode with three-fingered chords, and the two-player mode will now have parts for bass and rhythm guitars. It was also confirmed that the original guitars will be compatible with the PlayStation 3. There will also be three new song announcements made tomorrow from the Leipzig Games Convention, so stay tuned to discover what you'll be rocking out to come November. |
